What the result means
The calculator finds the volume of the selected shape, then multiplies that volume by the selected material density. The answer is only as exact as the dimensions and density.
Formula
Weight = volume × density × quantity
Common mistakes
- Using radius in a field asking for diameter.
- Leaving out wall thickness or inside diameter for tubing.
- Assuming every alloy, glass type, plywood panel or wood species has the same density.
- Forgetting coatings, fasteners, moisture and attached parts.
